5 Characters Bound to Become the ‘Young Avengers’ in the MCU

Rumors of a Young Avengers movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have been circling the internet for years. Such a team initially felt like a pipedream — when the OG 6 (Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Hawkeye) were still the only Avengers assembling, and kids were nowhere to be found. However, the time for such an installment is fast approaching. Considering most of Phase 4 will be finished by 2021, a new set of young supers may be soon to seize the reigns.

Kevin Feige even hinted at the possibility a while back (before Avengers: Endgame made its way to the silver screen). When Heroic Hollywood questioned the Marvel Studios President about the possibility of a Young Avengers, he stated:

… So…where and when we would see the evolution of that? I don’t know. And certainly – taking our cue from the comics as we always do – that’s why we wanted Cassie, a very young Cassie in this movie, to be inspired by her father. Just planting seeds.”

Based on Kevin Feige’s response, you know the first kid on the list of heroes likely to become one of the Young Avengers.

5. Stature (Cassie Lang)

Cassie Lang has already appeared in the MCU. Portrayed by both Emma Fuhrmann and Abby Ryder Fortson, the character is Scott Lang’s Daughter, and she is one of the main characters likely to take over for dad when his hero days are done. In the comics, Cassie Lang becomes Stature, and she used Pym particles to grow and shrink — just like her father — when she needs to save the day.

4. Iron Lad (Harley Keener)

Remember that kid Harley who helped out Tony Stark in Iron Man 3? Tony wound up giving him a bunch of cool gadgets (maybe to compensate for his lackluster treatment during his pre-parental instinct days). Portrayed by Ty Simpkins, the character appears in Endgame at Tony’s funeral, and not a single viewer saw this as a mere coincidence. Marvel Studios definitely has bigger plans for this kid.

3. Kid Loki

The Disney+ show Loki will reportedly feature Loki as a woman and as a child. However, in Thor: Love and Thunder, the MCU may bid farewell to Tom Hiddleston, swapping the actor out for an adolescent version of the character. The standing theory: Loki will get stuck in his childhood form, creating a way for Tom Hiddleston to leave the MCU while opening the door for the character’s prolonged role.

Considering Kid Loki will theoretically have all the memories of adult Loki in Thor: Love and Thunder, he may choose to follow a life of heroics. Loki becomes a hero at the end of Phase 3, and finding himself trapped as a child — with the mind and maturity of an adult who has found his place — he may alter his path.

2. Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan)

Ms. Marvel has already been confirmed for Disney+, so this character’s role in the future of the MCU seems like a no-brainer. Considering Disney+ shows and MCU films will communicate with one another, seeing this character make a transition to the silver screen for a mash-up is plausible. Not to mention, in the comics, Spidey is sort of her mentor, which could serve as the narrative’s connective tissue.

1. Hawkeye (Kate Bishop)

Kate Bishop already exists in the MCU, and the character has already been portrayed as competent with her father’s bow and arrow. She is already learning the ropes, and will likely take over for Clint Barton as Hawkeye following his standalone series on Disney+.
