As we enter the last days of the year and decade, we have exciting astrological aspects to look forward to as well. With the solstice behind us, and yuletide festivities in full effect this week, the cosmos throw even more magic into to mix.
On Christmas night or early in the morning on the 26th, depending on your geographic location, the new moon solar eclipse in the sign of Capricorn will glisten with potential and power. An eclipse can often feel like an astrological wild card, but trust that this one brings robust positivity. The sun and moon conjoin at 4 degrees of Capricorn, with Uranus in Taurus making a beautiful trine to the sun-moon conjunction. This formation creates the potential for breakthrough, power, surprises, and creativity. Furthermore, Jupiter, the planet of good luck, good fortune, and expansion, also joins the sun and moon for a rare and glorious combination that assures the feel-good vibes to roll this holiday. On the 27th, in fact, Jupiter and the Sun conjoin, forming what many astrologers refer to as the most promising aspect and day of the year.

New moons provide an opportunity to set intentions for desires and growth, and solar eclipses (which only occur during new-moon phases) magnify the potential of these unique new-moon moments, multiplying the potential exponentially. Add in the positive influences of Uranus and Jupiter, and all signs point to the decade closing out with one of its most beneficial new moons.
To take advantage of this new-moon opportunity, here’s my advice: If you drink on Christmas, do so in moderation. Keep your wits about you so that you can close the night with a powerful ritual on behalf of your deepest, most sincere, heart’s desires. This is an ideal time to light a candle and conjure magic. Remember, magic is nothing more than an act of creation through intention and willpower, in communion with forces inside and outside ourselves. It stems from love. When we can love big and bright, combining that force with the focus of will, while respecting the rhythms and power of nature, we unleash an unparalleled potential. I couldn’t think of a more aligned way to close the decade. Since the solar eclipse happens at 12:12 a.m., EST, on the 26th, you may want to wait to do your ritual until first thing in the morning on the 26th. Either way works, though, so long as you actually do it.
And since Jupiter and the sun will conjoin, too—with the aspect perfecting on the 27th at 1:25 p.m., EST—you can expect to further seal in the positive intentions set for this new moon solar eclipse. Do not sleep on these aspects. They are some of the best of the year, and leaning into them now will support you to have the leg up you desire come the New Year.
On the 28th, messenger Mercury leaves Sagittarius and enters into Capricorn, amplifying a nose-to-the-grindstone focus for aligning your heart and mind with the cosmic forces that are afoot. Now that New Year celebrations are starting to roar, go about revelry knowing that you have done the work to seed your desires. Be joyful, merry, and celebrate. You’ve worked so hard to be where you are right now.
