Femi Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly condemned Godwin Emefiele and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for their refusal to obey the Supreme Court ruling and the subsequent naira scarcity in the country. In a tweet, the former Aviation Minister expressed his outrage that Emefiele and those at the CBN are acting as if they are above the law. He wrote: “May God’s judgement and curse be upon those at Central Bank who believe that, despite the ruling of the courts, they are above the law and are greater than their creator. Your money, power, properties and wealth are for but a fleeting moment in the sands of time and echoes of eternity. Nigeria is for the living and not the dead. Obi-tuary (message of death) and A-tiku (death) are not our portions. The Lord of Hosts raised a standard against them and bound the spirit of death that leads them.” The Supreme Court had ruled that both old and new naira notes remain legal tenders until December 31, 2023, yet the CBN has failed to comply, leading to massive hunger in the country.
