Reports have emerged that North Korean bodyguards could face severe punishment, including possible execution, for allowing leader Kim Jong-un to go out with stained clothing. Last week, Kim was inspecting a missile launch when propaganda pictures revealed a stain on his jacket. According to Michael Madden, a blogger of North Korean news, those responsible for the stain could be demoted, assigned to hard labor, or even executed. Madden stated that while it is unlikely anyone will be shot over this incident, they could be sent away for execution. He also mentioned an unconfirmed story of Kim Jong-il having a member of his personal staff shot for smoking one of his cigarettes. Madden suggested that the guards might be able to reduce their punishment by writing a letter of apology, but also said it is possible that Kim will let it slide since he is less prone to mood swings than his father.
