Netflix has officially confirmed that the hit series “You” will be returning for its fifth and final season. Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s vice president of scripted series in US and Canada, said in a press statement that the show has had a “resounding cultural impact” and that viewers are in for an “unforgettable ending”. Penn Badgley, who plays the show’s protagonist Joe Goldberg, hinted at the possibility of the show ending with a fifth season in a recent interview with GQ Hype. He said that he knows what showrunner Greg Berlanti pitched him as the right way to end the show, and that if there is another season, it will be a grand finale.
Badgley also revealed that he requested fewer intimate scenes out of respect for his wife Domino Kirke. Season four follows Joe attempting to turn over a new leaf as a reformed murderer in London, and while he finds Marienne (Tati Gabrielle), the object of his affection from season three, he seemingly lets her go. However, part two still brings a considerable amount of death and a very surprising plot twist.
Little is known about how Joe’s story will unfold in the final season, but updates will be released as new information is revealed. Fans can expect an explosive ending as Joe meets his fate after years of terrorizing many victims.
