Attention, Wyld Stallyns Fans: Here’s Your Chance to Be a Part of ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’

Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan are returning to the big screen for the first time in nearly 30 years. And they want some of their biggest fans to join them. All you have to do is submit a “most excellent” video of yourself rocking out to a Wyld Stallyns demo track for your chance to appear in Bill & Ted Face the Music

The ‘Party on With Bill and Ted’ contest

Writer Ed Solomon announced the “Party on With Bill and Ted” contest on his Twitter on May 5.

To enter, just head to the contest website, where you can listen to a demo track. Then make a video of yourself playing along — or playing air guitar, if that’s more your style — and submit it for the chance “to be a small but most excellent part of our movie.”

Bill and Ted never let their lack of musical abilities hamper their enthusiasm, and neither should you. The most important part is to be yourself and have fun. Try filming in the most interesting setting you can while also adhering to social distancing guidelines and staying safe. And get those around you involved too.

“Get the whole band together and party on! Family, friends, pets, and any dudes your isolating with — we want to see you all,” reads the contest website.

You must be a U.S. or U.K. resident to enter. The deadline is May 20. Multiple videos will be featured in the film, but “you’ll need to watch the movie to see if you made it,” noted Solomon.

‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ is in theaters in August

As of now, Bill & Ted Face the Music is scheduled to hit theaters on August 21, 2020. The third installment in the Bill & Ted series — after 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey — will feature the lovably dim duo played by Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves as they confront the reality of middle age and fatherhood. But they haven’t given up their dreams of rock stardom with their band Wyld Stallyns.

In the first film, the time-traveling slackers learned that their band would eventually create music that would save the world. That hasn’t happened yet — though not for lack of trying. But in Face the Music, the pressure is on.

“They were told when they were teenagers that they were going to save reality, and they’ve been working on it the whole time,” writer Chris Matheson told Entertainment Weekly. “Now an emissary from the future comes and says, ‘You’ve got to do it right now. We’ve got literally 80 minutes or all of reality will come to an end.’”

This time around, the pair are helped by their kids, Thea (Samara Weaving), Bill’s daughter, and Billie (Brigette Lundy-Paine), Ted’s daughter. Several other new faces are also joining the cast, including SNL’s Beck Bennett and Kid Cudi. William Sadler reprises his role as the Grim Reaper from Bogus Journey.
