Four individuals, including three vigilante operatives and a teenager, were tragically killed by gunmen while on patrol in the Umuaka community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.
The gunmen ambushed the security personnel near Afor Umuaka and Hilltop Primary School, where they opened fire, resulting in the deaths of the victims. A stray bullet struck the teenager, causing immediate fatality.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident and stated that a tactical squad has been dispatched to apprehend the attackers.
The Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, condemned the attack and vowed to collaborate with other security agencies to track down the perpetrators. He expressed sorrow over the event, extended condolences to the families of the deceased, and prayed for the souls of the departed.
