General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s memorial service was held on July 25 at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi. The family of the Secretary General led a touching ceremony before official delegations and international guests paid their respects.
Accompanied by his widow, Ngo Thi Man, the family paid tribute with incense and flowers, mourning to the tune of “Hon Tu Si” (The Soul of the Martyrs). A wreath from the family conveyed their deep sorrow, “From his wife and beloved children and grandchildren.”
Amidst tears, the family, all adorned with white mourning bands, circled the casket of the Secretary General in a moment of grief.

The President of Laos penned a heartfelt letter to the Secretary General’s widow, expressing condolences and admiration for Mr. Trong’s dedication to his country and people until his last moments.
