On the evening of July 25, a long line of mourners formed outside the funeral hall, stretching for kilometers as people waited for their turn to bid farewell.
Many individuals, who had come straight from work and skipped dinner, stood in line to express their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
One mourner, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, expressed deep sorrow and questioned when the nation would see another leader like him.
Phan Thi Tam, a young woman among the crowd, felt heartbroken and emotional as she awaited to escort General Secretary Trong on his final journey.
By 9:30 PM, the surrounding streets were filled with mourners paying their respects, and emotions ran high as people mourned the General Secretary.
Inside the funeral hall, many were moved to tears at the sight of the General Secretary’s casket.
In his hometown of Lai Da Village, people continued to arrive to honor General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, with a somber atmosphere prevailing at the memorial.
Despite the chilly weather, visitors were provided with hand fans for comfort during their time paying respects.
People from various regions, including well-known personalities like actor Chien Thang, came to Lai Da Village to commemorate the revered leader.
The cultural house in Lai Da Village maintained a solemn atmosphere as mourners quietly paid their final respects to the General Secretary.
The visitation at the National Funeral Hall was extended until midnight on July 25 to accommodate the public, with plans to resume the following day from 7 AM to 12:30 PM. The memorial service will take place at 1 PM, followed by the burial at 3 PM at Mai Dich Cemetery in Hanoi.
