Angel Salazar, known for his role as Chi Chi, Al Pacino’s sidekick in Scarface, has died at the age of 68. Salazar passed away peacefully in his sleep at a friend’s home in Brooklyn. The cause of death has not been disclosed but it is known that Salazar had been struggling with heart problems.
“Got home from filming to find out my dear close friend Angel Salazar passed away,” shared actress Kadrolsha Ona Carole, expressing her sadness at his passing and cherishing memories of their work together.

Salazar gained fame for his portrayal of Chi Chi in Scarface, notably in the pivotal “chainsaw scene” and the film’s intense conclusion. He also appeared in Punchline with Tom Hanks and reunited with Pacino in Carlito’s Way. Additionally, he had a successful comedy career featuring HBO specials and a role on Last Comic Standing.
His filmography includes works such as Boulevard Nights, Walk Proud, Hot to Trot, and Maniac Cop 2. Tributes poured in following his passing, with many acknowledging his talent and friendship.
