On the occasion of the two-year anniversary of their marriage ceremony in Georgia, Jennifer Lopez has formally filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, signaling the end of their tumultuous union. The couple’s $68 million Beverly Hills estate remains on the market as they part ways.
Living separately for some time now, Affleck and Lopez mutually agreed that their marriage was not sustainable. Recently, Affleck acquired a new $20 million residence in Los Angeles where he has been juggling time with his children along with his demanding work commitments. Thus, it was no surprise that Affleck was not present when Lopez filed for divorce at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Affleck Prioritizes Family Matters
On the same day, Affleck was seen on the East Coast with his former spouse Jennifer Garner. They were seen at Yale University in Connecticut, dropping off their eldest daughter, Violet Affleck, who is commencing her college journey this autumn.
Ensuring Violet’s smooth transition to college life has been Affleck’s primary focus lately, as reported by an insider to People. Besides this, Affleck had other engagements leading up to a modest celebration at home for his 52nd birthday on Aug. 15, including a family trip to Japan with Garner and their children.
Affleck’s recent interactions with Garner have not visibly affected Lopez, who shares a warm bond with Violet, mirroring Affleck’s close relationship with Lopez’s twins, Max and Emme. The strength of these familial ties will be tested in the following period as Affleck and Lopez conclude their marriage and move forward independently.
