Adejuwon Soyinka
The Department of State Services (DSS) has explained the circumstances surrounding the arrest of investigative journalist, Adejuwon Soyinka, on Sunday.
Initially apprehended by DSS officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos early Sunday morning, Soyinka, the West African Regional Editor of the Conversation Africa, had just arrived in Nigeria from the United Kingdom on a Virgin Atlantic flight.
According to Peter Ifunnaya, the DSS spokesperson, Soyinka was “intercepted” by the agency based on a request from another government body.
In correspondence with Premium Times, Ifunnaya stated, “We are handling Adejuwon Soyinka’s situation.” However, he refrained from disclosing the identity of the agency that had prompted the arrest.
