A man named Aramide Tito, aged 45, appeared in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for reportedly starving and assaulting his 11-year-old stepson.
The accused, whose address was not disclosed, faces charges of indecent dealing, assault, and attempted murder but pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Clément Okuoimose, stated that the incident occurred on August 17 around 11:00 p.m. in Oke Ogbe Area, Atura, Badagry, Lagos.
According to Okuoimose, the defendant allegedly physically abused and deprived his stepson of food for three days. Additionally, he poured hot water on the child while he was sleeping, posing a threat to the boy’s life.
The prosecutor cited the defendant’s actions as violations of Sections 135, 245, and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. A J Aina, granted the defendant bail set at N100,000 with two employed sureties of equal amount.
The case was adjourned for further hearing on September 25.
