Jenna Ortega found herself in an amusing situation when rumors surfaced linking her romantically to Johnny Depp, which she found “hilarious.”
The rumors started when a blog claimed that Depp and Ortega, 61 and 21 years old respectively, were seen together for Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel.
The speculations were baseless, and Ortega promptly cleared the air expressing her disbelief at how the story gained traction, deeming it “insane” that people believed it.
Ortega Addresses the Rumors
Even her co-star Richard E. Grant humorously asked her about the rumored relationship on set, adding to the absurdity.
Ortega clarified that she never sought privacy or made any such statements, addressing the rumors in a now-deleted Instagram post as “ridiculous” and emphasizing that she doesn’t know Depp personally.
“I’ve never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone,” she stated.
Although finding the situation amusing, Ortega highlighted how misinformation spreads rapidly, having been previously associated with singer Jacob Sartorius and actor Asher Angel.
“Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Miss Ortega,” a spokesperson for Depp told NME, denouncing the rumors intended to harm his reputation.
