The Public Affairs Unit Head of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, revealed that a fire outbreak at 33 Kudirat Abiola Road, Oregun, Lagos, was caused by an electrical surge.

A fire ravaged a three-story building near the First Bank Bus-Stop in Oregun, Lagos State, late Friday night.

Reportedly starting at 11:49 pm, the incident led to significant property damage.

The statement by Nosa Okunbor from LASEMA highlighted that the fire’s origin was linked to an electrical issue in one of the rooms.

Substantial losses estimated in millions of naira were incurred due to the fire.

“LASEMA received distress calls through the emergency lines at 2349hrs.

“Responding swiftly, the LASEMA team reached the scene at 0009hrs.

“Upon arrival, it was evident that the fire began in a third-floor office space of the building.

“Investigations revealed an electrical surge as the cause of the fire.

“Efficient coordination between LRT and LASG Fire & Rescue Service contained and extinguished the fire promptly.

“Due to the quick response, only two rooms were affected, preventing further damage.”
