A 25-year-old man, Ibrahim Sadik, suspected of stealing a motorcycle, was saved by the Jigawa State Police Command in Kazaure Local Government Area after being attacked by an angry mob.



 

The police spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, stated that the suspect, originally from Kano State, stole a motorcycle at the marketplace while people were engaged in prayers.

 

According to Adam, “On 30/08/2024 at about 2000hrs, a reliable source informed us of a suspected motorcycle thief apprehended at Sha’iskawa Quarters in Kazaure LGA. Unfortunately, an enraged mob resorted to vigilante justice, subjecting the suspect to physical assault.

 

“The prompt intervention of the Kazaure Divisional Police Officer and the responding police team prevented further harm to the suspect who sustained minor injuries. The victim was swiftly transported to the hospital, treated, and later discharged.

 

“During interrogation at Kazaure Division, the suspect, identified as Ibrahim Sadik aged 25, from Dakata Quarters in Nassarawa LGA of Kano State, admitted to arriving in Kazaure town on a market day with the intent to steal a motorcycle.

 

“He confessed to successfully stealing a red motorcycle during the prayer time, which ultimately led to his capture.

 

“All suspects involved were subsequently charged and will face prosecution.”
