Kidnapper Appeals for Leniency After Being Caught

In a troubling incident in the NEPA neighborhood of Jos North, Plateau State, a suspected kidnapper has appealed to the police for leniency following his apprehension by local residents.

The individual, identified as Umar Adam, reportedly abducted two young teenagers—a boy and a girl—demanding a ransom of N20 million. However, he later agreed to release the victims for a reduced sum of N1.5 million.

During his presentation at the state police headquarters, Adam claimed this was his first offense and vowed never to engage in such criminal behavior again.

In his confession, he stated, “I kidnapped two teenagers and kept them in an unfinished building. After receiving ₦1.5 million as ransom, I was transporting the victims back to their families when I was captured by the crowd.

“This is my first experience with kidnapping. I sincerely ask the government for mercy. It was a grave mistake, and I assure you I will not repeat it. I am requesting help from the government.”

According to reports from Daily Trust, Umar faced a near-lynching from the locals before law enforcement intervened to protect him.
