Driver Detained for Allegedly Trying to Sell Company Vehicle in Edo

According to SP Moses Yamu, the police spokesperson, the suspects negotiated the sale price of the car, with a potential buyer willing to pay N4 million, but they were adamant about selling it for N6 million.

A 27-year-old driver named Mustapha Suleiman was apprehended for attempting to sell his employer’s Toyota RAV4 in Benin, the capital of Edo State.

He was arrested along with his accomplice, 25-year-old Isaac Joseph, by the X-Squad of the Edo State Police Command.

As per the police spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, the two men had a potential buyer who was inclined to pay N4 million, but they insisted on a price of N6 million.



“On September 3, 2024, around 3:45 PM, based on reliable information, the X-Squad operatives detained Mustapha Suleiman, 27, and Isaac Joseph, 25, while they were in possession of a Toyota RAV4, registration number EKY 855 JJ, suspected to be stolen. During questioning, they revealed that they had stolen the vehicle from Lagos State and were in search of a buyer,”
the police public relations officer mentioned.

In a statement to the media, Suleiman explained, “I work as a driver. The car is owned by my employer. When she requested that I wash the car, I drove it to Edo with the intention of selling it.” He added that they planned to sell the car for N6 million to fund a laundry business.
