On the morning of September 12, Mr. Tran Cam Tu, a member of the Politburo and Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission, visited Nu Village to assess the rescue and relief efforts.
Rescue teams have expanded their search efforts beyond areas immediately affected by the flood in an attempt to find more missing persons.
Hoang Quoc Bao, the Party Secretary of Bao Yen District, reported that 42 bodies were recovered from the Lang Nu flood. Many families are still anxiously waiting for news about missing relatives.

Mrs. Nong Thi Hen, desperately seeking her family after learning about the floods, returned to find her home in ruins. Sitting next to a family member’s coffin, she tearfully recounted: “My children and their spouses are in the village. We have buried my son-in-law, but my daughter is still unaccounted for.”
Nu Village resident Mrs. Ly Thi Hong suffers greatly, having lost five out of seven family members in the flood, including her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
Filled with sorrow, she expressed: “I can’t fathom this reality. My family is gone. We lost communication and were unaware of the situation until someone came to inform us.”
The heartbreaking tale of Mrs. Hong is just one of many in Nu Village, where the floods have caused immense destruction and sorrow within the community.
The recent flooding has inflicted widespread devastation in Lao Cai. Official data indicate that six districts and cities have been heavily impacted, leading to significant loss of life and property. Currently, 234 individuals are reported affected, with 88 confirmed fatalities, 85 missing, and 70 injured.
The floods have also severely damaged around 2,800 hectares of farmland, wiping out crops and threatening the livelihoods of countless farmers. Approximately 7,500 households have been severely affected, with many homes completely demolished.
Economic losses due to the flooding in Lao Cai are estimated to reach approximately 3,000 billion VND. Authorities are diligently conducting rescue operations and providing assistance to the affected communities following this tragedy.
