According to Adewale, the individual who was freed late on the evening of Wednesday, September 11, is presently receiving medical care before reuniting with his family.

Benedict Akiika, a leader within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, has been released after being kidnapped by bandits.

His release occurred days after he was taken from his home in Idi-Ape, Olorunda Aaba, on September 4.

SP Osifeso Adewale, the spokesperson for the Oyo state police, reported that the politician was freed following a thorough search operation conducted by the Command’s tactical, intelligence, and operational units, which included combing through nearby forests in Ijagun, Ogun State, Ore in Ondo State, and finally reaching Uselu in Edo State.

Adewale mentioned that the released individual is currently receiving medical treatment before he can reunite with his relatives.

He also emphasized ongoing efforts to capture the criminal group responsible for this incident.

In light of this, the Oyo State Police Command is urging local residents to aid the investigation by providing timely and reliable information. They reiterated their commitment to ensuring that Oyo State remains safe and secure.
