Global Leaders Unite in Support of Vietnam Following Storm Yagi’s Devastation

International leaders express solidarity and support for VN after storm Yagi

The Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang, expressed profound empathy and confidence that Vietnam’s leadership will guide affected areas to recovery and restore normalcy.

The Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party conveyed their best wishes for a rapid recovery for Vietnam, expressing faith in the Communist Party of Vietnam’s ability to navigate these trying times.

Cuba’s First Secretary and President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, offered heartfelt condolences and emphasized Cuba’s commitment to support Vietnam during this challenging phase.

Dmitry Medvedev, Vice Chairman of the Russian Federation Security Council, shared his condolences with bereaved families and wished for a swift recovery for those impacted.

South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol extended deep sympathy on behalf of his nation, hoping for Vietnam’s rapid recovery and the resumption of normal activities.

Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, sent encouraging thoughts, wishing for prompt recovery in the devastated areas and reaffirmed Japan’s support for Vietnam.

French President Emmanuel Macron showed solidarity with Vietnam, confirming France’s readiness to help mitigate the effects of the storm.

Leaders from various countries, including Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Palestine, Finland, Turkey, and UNESCO, also expressed concern and condolences, offering support to Vietnam following Storm Yagi.

Foreign Ministers from China, Cuba, South Korea, Japan, and Hungary have reached out to Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, conveying their support.

Numerous governments have committed financial aid totalling millions of USD to assist Vietnam in its recovery efforts post-storm.

As reported by the Directorate of Dykes and Flood and Storm Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), by 5 PM on September 13, Storm Yagi resulted in 336 casualties and missing persons, tallying 254 deaths and 82 individuals still unaccounted for.
