On Monday, the president arrived in Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital, to express his sympathy to those impacted by the recent flooding.
Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Governor Babagana Zulum. He plans to visit the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kaneni, before heading to one of the camps for displaced individuals.
The flooding on Monday severely affected nearly half of Maiduguri, resulting in casualties and significant property damage.
The Borno State government has established 36 camps to support the thousands who have been displaced.
Earlier, the president had sent Vice President Kashim Shettima to evaluate the situation and announce a federal government aid package of 30 billion Naira.
