Diddy’s Prison Predicament: A Target for Inmate Rivalries?

Diddy accused of threatening journalist Danyel Smith to leave her 'dead in the boot of a car'

Diddy is currently facing significant safety threats during his incarceration, with past prison officials suggesting that some inmates might target him due to his fame. The hip-hop artist is detained at MDC Brooklyn, a federal facility in New York City. Sources from TMZ indicate that he is housed in the Special Housing Unit (SHU), separated from the general inmate population because of the high-profile nature of his legal issues.

Former MDC Brooklyn warden Cameron Lindsay informed TMZ that Diddy’s placement in the SHU serves as a preventive measure to keep him safe from potential dangers within the prison.

Lindsay explained that harming someone as well-known as Diddy might be perceived by inmates as a means to earn respect or recognition among their peers — a sort of “badge of honor.” Due to his celebrity status and the serious accusations he faces, he may become a potential target.

Diddy’s prison routine

Adapting to life in the SHU will be a significant change for Diddy, who is used to a life of luxury. His day will commence with a 6:00 AM wake-up call.

He will need to adhere to specific tasks each day, such as making his bed, keeping his cell clean, and mopping the floors. Recreation is restricted to only one hour per day, with access to showers limited to three times a week.

Diddy’s meals will consist of approximately 1,800 calories per day, pre-prepared and stored in warming boxes before being served, meaning he will likely receive less-than-fresh food.

Although he can visit the commissary to purchase select comforts like snacks, coffee, and clothing items, his solitary confinement from other inmates restricts his social engagements.

Kousouros, an attorney representing rapper Casanova, mentioned that MDC Brooklyn has a reputation for frequent violence, including altercations and assaults. Thus, while the SHU may be more secure, it also means increased isolation for individuals like Diddy.
