NECO Releases 2024 Internal Examination Results (via Primetweets)

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that the results for the 2024 SSCE internal examinations are now available.

This announcement was made by the NECO Registrar/Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, on Thursday, September 19, during a press briefing in Minna.

Wushishi reported that 21 supervisors in 12 states were blacklisted for misconduct, and one school in Ekiti was de-recognized due to mass cheating in core subjects.

He elaborated that the supervisors faced blacklisting for issues including inadequate supervision, facilitating cheating, abandonment of duty, extortion, intoxication, and general negligence.

Wushishi shared the examination statistics: “There were 1,367,736 candidates, with 702,112 males and 665,624 females.

“Of these, 828,284 candidates achieved five or more credits, including English and Mathematics, making up 60.55%.

“When considering five or more credits without the English and Mathematics requirement, the number rises to 1,147,597, or 83.90%.”

On the subject of examination malpractice, Wushishi noted a decrease from the previous year.

He stated, “This year, 8,437 candidates were found to have engaged in malpractice, a drop from 12,030 cases in 2023, reflecting a 30.1% decrease.

Furthermore, he indicated that 40 schools participated in mass cheating during the examinations.

He remarked, “In the recent Senior School Certificate Examination, 40 schools across 17 states were involved in systematic cheating. We will invite these schools to discuss the findings and decide on appropriate actions. One school in Ekiti has faced de-recognition due to cheating in core and science subjects.

“Additionally, 21 supervisors across 12 states were flagged for professional misconduct.”

Wushishi encouraged candidates to check their results on the NECO website.

“I hereby officially announce the public release of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination results. Candidates can view their results by visiting www.neco.gov.ng and entering their examination registration number,” he declared.
