On Saturday, in Edo Central, a significant number of voters braved the rain to take part in the off-cycle governorship election.

As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, voting officially began at 8:40 a.m. at Eguare Primary School, Ujiogba, located in the Esan West Local Government Area (LGA), which features three polling units.

Despite the inclement weather, voters stood in line for both the accreditation and the ballot casting, which occurred simultaneously.

At polling unit II, ward 2, some voters sought shelter under umbrellas while others patiently waited in the rain.

Voter Samuel Samson shared with NAN that the voting activities commenced at 8:30 a.m.

“The electoral officials arrived the night before, but the polling booth opened at precisely 8:30 a.m.,”
he noted.

In Igueben, situated in the Igueben LGA, some polling units had canopies set up to protect voters from the rain.
