The NDLEA has apprehended two women, Asma’u Bashiru and Hauwa Bashiru, who are the wives of a community leader, as well as his son, Sadat Bashiru, for their involvement in drug trafficking activities in Lagos.
According to Babafemi’s statement, during a raid on September 18, NDLEA officials uncovered 226kg of cannabis at the residences of Bashir Mohammed Talba, the Sarkin Yamma of Badagry. The community leader is currently on the run, having evaded capture.
“NDLEA operatives discovered a total of 226kg of cannabis during searches of the residences of community leader Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Talba,” the statement indicated.
“While Alhaji Talba remains at large, searches conducted at his homes revealed 93 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 57.6kg from his first wife, Asma’u Bashiru, 35, and his son, Sadat Bashiru, 22, at a location in Ashipa, Seme Badagry. Additionally, another raid at his second wife Hauwa Bashiru’s residence, 42, in Aketegbo area of Seme Badagry resulted in the seizure of 302 compressed blocks of cannabis weighing 168.6kg.”
