Enzo Maresca’s Disappointment as Chelsea Falls Short Against Nottingham Forest

Enzo Maresca left frustrated as Chelsea

Chelsea wrapped up their matches before the October international break with a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The team could not secure a win at Stamford Bridge, facing a determined Forest squad that played with ten men towards the end of the match.

Despite an impressive 13 minutes of extra time, they couldn’t score, marking the end of their five-game winning streak across competitions.

This season, Forest has shown resilience, suffering only one loss in the Premier League and earning a notable 1-0 victory at Liverpool last month.

They held their ground effectively, with goalkeeper Matz Sels receiving a booking for delaying play during added time. Coach Enzo Maresca expressed that his side deserved all three points from the match.

“They are a solid team, and we knew their defense would be tough. It was a challenging game, very different from our last match against Brighton. We remained patient with the ball and created opportunities,” he stated after the game.

“On the whole, the performance was commendable, and we felt we should have won. Their goalkeeper was outstanding throughout the match.”

“We generated chances and were deserving of the win. There are no other factors at play,” he added.

Most of Maresca’s squad will now depart for international duties over the next few days before returning to Premier League action against Liverpool on October 20.

The Italian coach is starting to settle into his role since joining from Leicester City during the summer, and Chelsea has remained unbeaten in the league since their opening match of the season.
