Lagos Task Force Seizes 82 Illegal Motorcycles

The Lagos State Task Force has recently confiscated 82 commercial motorcycles, commonly known as Okadas, throughout the city.

These motorcycles were taken from operators due to their illegal activity in areas where they are prohibited, in violation of state traffic regulations.

Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Adetayo Akerele, who chairs the Lagos Taskforce, emphasized that this operation is part of an ongoing effort to enforce the laws rigorously.

The 82 motorcycles were seized during operations conducted in several neighborhoods, including Berger, Mile 2 Oke, and Orile.

CSP Akerele reaffirmed the commitment of the Task Force to tackle illegal motorcycle operations, warning that both riders and passengers caught breaking the law will face prosecution.

He stated: “Passengers on Okadas share the responsibility and will also be penalized if apprehended.”

“The Lagos State Taskforce is dedicated to ensuring the safety and accessibility of Lagos roads for everyone.

“Residents are advised to comply with the regulations, as they are designed to safeguard the well-being of all community members.

“All 82 seized motorcycles will be forfeited to the state government through legal proceedings.”
