Response to Bribery Allegations by Former Aide
Adeboye Ewenla, who was recently let go by Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, has rebutted the bribery claims against him.
Reports indicate that Aiyedatiwa terminated Ewenla’s position due to accusations of corruption.
Previously, Ewenla worked as the Special Assistant on Forestry for the Central Senatorial District and faced accusations from timber merchants in the area.
Following Ewenla’s dismissal, Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, announced that the decision was effective immediately.
In a statement released in response, Ewenla strongly denied the bribery charges, asserting that they were part of a scheme to damage his reputation.
He claimed that certain individuals see him as a hindrance to their illegal operations within government-controlled forest areas.
“I want to make it clear that these allegations are untrue and are designed to tarnish my reputation because I stand in the way of unlawful activities in our forest reserves,” Ewenla stated.
He further explained, “The Ondo State Government has prohibited any form of deforestation and unauthorized activities in these areas. Any payment discussed is directed towards the government and not to my personal benefit.”
