Commissioner of Police Nemi Iwo announced on Sunday, with details provided by Public Relations Officer Moses Yamu.

The Edo State Police have apprehended two individuals for allegedly threatening Evelyn Akpan and for arson.

Commissioner Nemi Iwo shared this information in a Sunday statement, attributed to Moses Yamu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

According to the communiqué released in Benin City, the suspects are identified as Prince Anthony Uwa, 31, and William Ugiagdor, 38.

Iwo detailed that the arrests were made following a complaint from Akpan on September 30, 2024, where she reported receiving threats via text messages demanding N1.5 million, with warnings of her house being burned and her family harmed.

Upon receiving the report, police operatives utilized intelligence to swiftly locate and detain the suspects, who admitted to their involvement in the crime.

Yamu urged residents, particularly the youth, to avoid engaging in criminal acts and instead focus on lawful opportunities, educational pursuits, and the development of skills that can positively impact their lives and communities.
