Good news has emerged for fans and followers alike. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, a central figure in the Black Mafia Family, has transitioned from federal imprisonment to community confinement.
After serving a significant portion of his sentence, he is now set to complete it in a more comfortable environment in Florida. The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed his transfer from FCI Coleman Low in Wildwood on Tuesday.
He will be managed by the BOP’s Miami Residential Reentry Management Office, where he will live in a halfway house. Big Meech was arrested in 2005 and later sentenced to 30 years in 2008 for drug trafficking and money laundering offenses.
A Fresh Start
This year, a judge reduced Big Meech’s sentence by nearly three years. He gained notoriety in the early 2000s as the head of the ‘Black Mafia Family’, a prominent drug trafficking organization across the United States.
The group was responsible for generating immense profits through widespread drug operations. However, Big Meech’s enterprise came crashing down when he was arrested in 2007 following an extensive investigation.
After receiving a sentence reduction last year, his release was anticipated around 2025 or 2026. Nevertheless, this unexpected early release has caught many by surprise, as Big Meech moves closer to reintegrating into society.
