In Abia State, two prominent figures from the ruling Labour Party (LP) have been abducted by unidentified armed assailants.
The incident occurred during a Labour Party meeting held at a hotel in Aba, a major commercial hub in the region.
The assailants, who were masked, reportedly asserted that they were following directives from higher authorities, without specifying further details.
Among those kidnapped are Ceekay Igara, the Deputy National Chairman, and Prince G. O. Ndubueze, the Acting State Chairman.
According to reports from Daily Post, Ndubueze was forcibly taken away in a vehicle without license plates, which has escalated alarm among party members.
In response, Labour Party attendees rallied together, voicing their condemnation of the kidnapping as a “anti-people” act and expressing their concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the state.
