The Unstoppable Streak: Discovering the Premier League’s Longest Unbeaten Runs

What is the longest unbeaten Premier League run? Man City fourth in all-time EPL list image

The upcoming 2024/25 Premier League season may witness the breaking of a longstanding record.

Manchester City narrowly defeated Arsenal once again at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, securing their fourth consecutive EPL title under manager Pep Guardiola, marking a record achievement.

However, Arsenal supporters may have more reasons to feel frustrated in the near future, as City aims to surpass a 20-year-old record held by the North London club.

Arsene Wenger’s legendary ‘Invincibles’ team set the gold standard for Premier League excellence with their unmatched unbeaten streak, and now, City is closing the gap.

Record for the Longest Unbeaten Streak in Premier League

Arsenal fans remain proud of holding the record for the longest unbeaten streak in Premier League history, having gone 49 matches without loss from May 2002 to October 2004.

This impressive streak ended in a controversial manner with a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, highlighted by goals from Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney, which ignited the notorious ‘Battle of the Buffet’ incident at Old Trafford.

Since that day in 2004, Arsenal’s record has remained unchallenged, although Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool got close, seeing their unbeaten streak end at 44 matches in February 2020.

Currently, City is on a club record run, remaining unbeaten in 32 Premier League matches, positioning them fourth overall in the history of the league.

*Note: Manchester City’s run is still active as of October 20.
