Wike’s Take on Obi’s Presidential Bid
Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has accused Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, of collaborating with his adversaries in response to Wike’s lack of support.
Wike made these remarks during a recent event in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, where he hosted a luncheon for members of the Martin Amaewhule-led faction of the Rivers House of Assembly.
The former governor of Rivers refrained from endorsing Obi for the presidency, despite numerous pleas. Wike voiced his belief that Obi was unlikely to win the election.
He pointed out that some individuals within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are also conspiring against him as they eye the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.
Wike expressed confidence that his political adversaries wouldn’t succeed, stating, “Peter Obi’s team sought my support intensely, and I made it clear that Rivers State wouldn’t back a losing candidate.” He also mentioned a conspiracy against him, saying, “If they don’t act fast, they will face challenges.”
Wike further indicated that there are notable figures from the APC collaborating against him, yet he remains steadfast that they will ultimately face defeat.
