As of October 21, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reports a tropical depression affecting the eastern part of the Philippines.
At 4:00 PM on the same day, the tropical depression was positioned at 13.5°N latitude and 131.0°E longitude, approximately 1,300 kilometers southeast of Luzon. The wind speed near its center was recorded at level 7 (50-61 km/h), with gusts reaching up to level 9.
Forecasts indicate that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will make a west-northwest movement and is likely to strengthen into a storm. By 4:00 PM on October 22, the storm’s center is expected to be over the eastern Philippine waters, with maximum wind speeds escalating to level 8 (62-75 km/h) and gusts up to level 11. Wave heights are projected to reach between 3-4 meters.
The weather agency also anticipates that this storm will possibly enter the East Sea around October 25.
From the afternoon into the evening of October 24, the northern East Sea (east of longitude 118.5°E) may face increasing wind speeds up to level 8 near the storm’s center, with gusts fluctuating between levels 9-10 and peaking at level 12. The sea conditions are expected to be quite rough, with waves ranging from 3-5 meters, accompanied by thunderstorms and hazardous whirlwinds.
