Ivanka Trump, daughter of former President Donald Trump, chose to attend the Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert in Miami with her daughter, setting aside her father’s political affiliations. This comes amidst a climate where Trump has backed Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party in the upcoming presidential election.
As the 2024 United States Presidential Election approaches, both parties are eager for any support they can muster. Harris received a significant boost when the popular singer endorsed her, prompting 300,000 new voter registrations.
Following this, JD Vance, who is Trump’s preferred Vice-Presidential pick, criticized Ivanka. Additionally, a pro-MAGA banner was flown over the Hard Rock Stadium during one of Swift’s concerts as a display of Republican loyalty.
Despite the controversy, Ivanka attended the concert between October 18-20 with her daughter, which some sources suggest could be seen as a belated birthday celebration for her daughter, who turned 13 in July, while Swift had been performing across Europe.
This attendance stands in stark contrast to her father’s previous statements on social media, where he expressed disdain for Taylor Swift, declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” after she backed Harris’ campaign on Instagram.
Swift had declared her support for Kamala Harris shortly following an ABC debate, stating: “I’m voting for @kamalaharris… she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.” She also praised Harris’s choice of Tim Walz as her running mate for his longstanding advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s reproductive rights.
