Ex-Chelsea Manager in Talks to Rejoin Premier League at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is experiencing the swift changes in the Premier League this season.

The Austrian was appointed in February to help the team stave off relegation as the season neared its conclusion.

Under his leadership, the Eagles achieved an impressive turnaround, winning six out of their last seven matches, setting a club record with 49 points in the Premier League.

In stark contrast, the beginning of the 2024/25 season has seen the team struggle, failing to secure any victories in their opening matches, leading to increased scrutiny on Glasner.

According to reports, the club is contemplating a significant change at the helm, considering replacing Glasner due to worries about his capacity to improve the situation. Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is being discussed as a potential successor.

Potter was already a candidate for the Palace appointment before Glasner took over earlier in 2024, as the 49-year-old seeks new opportunities following his departure from Chelsea.

After stepping away from Chelsea in April 2023, there were speculations linking Potter with the England manager’s role to succeed Gareth Southgate, but the FA opted to hire Thomas Tuchel instead — who was ironically replaced by Potter at Chelsea in September 2022.

Recent updates from The Guardian suggest that Palace is weighing their options, with Potter among the leading candidates.

Southgate and experienced coach David Moyes are also considered potential options for Palace as they prepare for three crucial Premier League matches before the international break in November.
