Janine’s Journey to Da Nang: A Coffee Adventure
After spending five years in Bali, Indonesia, Janine Freuling embarked on an exciting trip to Vietnam, specifically to Da Nang, a city she found ideal for her lifestyle as a digital nomad.
During her initial days in Da Nang, Janine quickly developed a fondness for the local coffee scene, discovering various unique coffee preparations. She described the local coffee offerings as a mix of the familiar and the unusual.
She sampled six different coffee types, ranging from well-known options like coconut and salt coffee to more unconventional choices like peanut, cheese, and yogurt coffee.
With strong flavors and affordable prices between VND32,000 and VND39,000, Janine was not only impressed by the coffee itself but also by the unique street-side coffee culture in Da Nang. “Small tables and chairs line the pavements where people enjoy coffee outdoors,” she noted.
After trying all six coffee varieties, Janine found each one had its distinct taste, and individual preferences varied widely. She felt the peanut coffee was a bit too thick for her liking and expressed surprise at the combination of coffee and yogurt.
Among her favorites, Janine highlighted the egg and cheese coffee, praising their flavors and affordability. The cheese coffee struck a perfect balance between sweet and salty.
Ultimately, she favored the salt and coconut coffee the most, giving them scores of 9.5/10 and 8/10, respectively. The coconut coffee boasted a robust flavor with coconut cream and crunchy dried coconut, while the salt coffee featured a sweet yet subtly salty whipped cream taste.
Reflecting on her experience, Janine found her time in Da Nang to be enjoyable and enlightening, allowing her to explore innovative Vietnamese beverages.
