Nigerian Actor Critiques Davido’s Birthday Performance
Yemi Solade, a noted Nigerian actor, has spoken out against the backlash surrounding Davido’s performance at the birthday event of Tobi Adegboyega, a London-based pastor.
Ossai Ovie Success, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Delta State, voiced his disapproval on social media, criticizing Pastor Tobi for booking Davido for his celebration.
He labeled this choice as a disgrace to the Christian faith and urged Adegboyega to seek forgiveness from God.
Success suggested that the pastor ought to have selected Gospel artists to perform instead of secular singers like Davido and KCee.
He remarked, “I’m disappointed in Pastor Tobi for inviting Davido to his birthday party. This is an embarrassment to the Gospel, He should ask God for forgiveness.
Continuing, he stated that he failed to sense a spiritual atmosphere during the event, which diverged from pastoral principles.
“As the founder of Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega’s actions seemed inappropriate and discredited the teachings of Jesus Christ,” he added.
He insisted that, as a pastor, Adegboyega should have brought in Gospel musicians to inspire and reach out to his audience, rather than causing potential shame to the faith. He questioned why the pastor repeatedly makes choices that could disgrace the Gospel and suggested he reconsider his pastoral identity due to a lack of spiritual evidence in his actions.
Additionally, he stated, “A pastor cannot celebrate birthdays with secular performances. It’s inconsistent. I’m disappointed in Pastor Tobi. Pastor Tobi should seek forgiveness from God for his actions.”
In response, Yemi Solade addressed the comments on a blog post, challenging the notion of Davido’s faith and questioned, “Is DAVID ADELEKE not a CHILD OF GOD and a FELLOW CHRISTIAN?”
