Professor Christopher Imumolen
The Accord Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has officially expelled its 2023 presidential nominee, Professor Christopher Imumolen, along with seven other party members. This decision stems from their alleged participation in activities that negatively affected the party’s integrity.
This conclusion was made during a recent NEC assembly in Abuja, with details released through an announcement from Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, the national chair, and Dr. Adebukola A. Ajaja, the national secretary.
The NEC’s decision followed recommendations from a seven-person disciplinary group which investigated serious allegations, including misconduct, anti-party behavior, and breaches of the party’s governing rules.
“The NEC unanimously supported and confirmed actions against members responsible for factionalism, tarnishing the party’s image, and breaching its constitutional guidelines,” stated the communiqué.
Alongside Imumolen, the expelled members include: Lanre Ogundare (Lagos State Chair), Surajo Ibrahim (Zamfara State Chair), Muktar Abdalla (Borno State Chair), Chief Abiola Samuel Odeoba (former Ekiti State Chair), Dr. Falaye Ajibola (former Ondo State Chair), Dzingina Jacob Ephraim (Nasarawa State Chair), and Prince Adebisi Wale Ganiy.
Additionally, three individuals—Salimu Lawal Boyi (Katsina), Fatima Mohammed Zarumi (Yobe), and Abdullahi Isa Kasowa (Bauchi)—have been suspended from the party.
The NEC emphasized the importance of adhering to the party’s constitution to prevent chaos and expressed confidence in Mgbudem’s leadership, commending his efforts to rejuvenate and rebrand the Accord Party ahead of the 2027 elections.
