DJ D-Nice’s Instagram quarantine party

Nice decided to raise everyone’s spirits while under quarantine shut down due to the coronavirus by planning an impromptu live stream party from his own kitchen in his LA home. The celebrity DJ spared no expense in creating a vibe that listeners would feel at an actual packed club. He set up his home station with his famous top hat he’s known for wearing, his turntables and microphone, and some of his favorite libations to enjoy throughout his set.

His mission was to take people’s minds off of the unknown and help with anxiety during this time and he did just that. “Homeschool was a simple idea that was just a way to take my mind off of Coronavirus and the quarantine,” he told The Root. “What I have always known is that music is powerful and has the ability to bring people together, so this was an opportunity for me to marry my passion and purpose together to help lift spirits.”

DJ D-Nice created a Spotify playlist for subscribers to have their own quarantine party

After Nice’s iconic live Instagram session, Spotify took notice to Nice’s viewership and the impact it had not just on everyday people, but also on some of the biggest celebs. The music streaming service executives were impressed and decided to use the opportunity and create a never before seen partnership.

Spotify tapped Nice to create an exclusive “Homeschool playlist,” named in honor of his popular nine-hour quarantine part. The playlist features over 50 songs and sticks to Nice’s eclectic musical taste, with tunes from soul singers like The Emotions, Stevie Wonder, Teena Marie – dance tunes from artists like Cherrelle and Sylvester – and funk music from others like Chaka Khan and Rufus.

Nice is a fan of Spotify and even worked with the streaming service before, spinning tunes at their Best New Artist party in both 2019 and 2020.

“I am honored and humbled to partner with Spotify on the official Homeschool Playlist,” Nice said in an official statement. “This list will rotate on songs that are guaranteed to make listeners dance and enjoy themselves. Stay tuned for more updates to this list.”

The playlist is available for streaming now. Now, fans can have their own virtual dance party with hand-selected tunes from Nice at their own discretion.
