Travis Kelce, a key player for the Kansas City Chiefs, has expressed his admiration for girlfriend Taylor Swift‘s music by highlighting a unique favorite: “Death By a Thousand Cuts.”
On a recent bonus episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce praised this particular song, which, intriguingly, is not a permanent fixture in Swift’s Eras Tour setlist.
Kelce mentioned that his appreciation for “Death By a Thousand Cuts” developed after he witnessed Swift perform it during her NPR Tiny Desk Concert in 2019.
Even though he accidentally referred to NPR as “NRP” in the podcast, Kelce emphasized that this song holds a significant meaning for him.
“‘Death By a Thousand Cuts’ is a track I’ve come to truly adore,” shared the 35-year-old tight end, reflecting on his emotional connection to the song from Swift’s Lover album.
A Treasure Trove of Hits
The topic arose between Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, when a fan inquired about which Swift song Travis would choose to listen to for eternity.
Instead of opting for a song believed to be inspired by their romance, like those from Swift‘s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, Kelce chose the iconic “Blank Space” from the 2014 album, 1989.
“‘Blank Space’ is a tune I’ll always treasure,” he remarked. “It’s just phenomenal, in every way.”
While Kelce didn’t mention “Karma,” which has new lyrics referencing him and closes the Eras Tour, he did highlight several songs rumored to relate to their relationship.
He cited “So High School” and “The Alchemy,” both thought to reflect aspects of their love story, as well as “Cowboy Like Me” from Swift‘s Evermore album as favorites.
Jason Kelce joined the discussion, revealing that his preferred Swift song is “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.”
