Their car exploded after hitting a light pole, resulting in both of their deaths. This horrifying incident took place in Santa Clarita, California, near Rodas’ car shop, where the friends had gathered for a toy drive. Attendee Antonio Holmes recounted that they heard the crash from the shop and rushed to help with fire extinguishers, but the vehicle was already engulfed in flames, leaving no chance for rescue.
Paul Walker’s Death Was Not Instantaneous
The findings in Paul Walker’s autopsy are deeply unsettling. Released in January 2014 by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department, the report indicated that Walker might not have died instantly from the crash impact caused by the Porsche, which was reportedly moving at 100 miles per hour, as stated by USA Today. He suffered a range of critical injuries, including fractures to his clavicle, pelvis, and spine. However, the primary cause of death was determined to be from “traumatic and thermal injuries,” suggesting he may have been alive for a short period after the car caught fire. It remains unclear if he was aware during that time. The extent of the fire severely damaged his remains, making identification through dental records necessary.
Reports also suggest that Rodas did not intend to drive at such reckless speeds. An insider revealed that both men noticed issues with the Porsche upon arriving at the toy drive. They attempted to address the car’s problems, leading to a drive to diagnose the issue. It was noted that both Rodas and Walker were experienced and responsible drivers who sought to resolve the malfunction, rather than engaging in dangerous behavior.
