Dead Wild Boars Found in Pu Mat National Park
Forest patrols recently uncovered a concerning incident in Nghe An Province’s Pu Mat National Park, where numerous wild boars were found deceased under mysterious conditions.
On December 9, Le Anh Tuan, the Director of the Pu Mat National Park Management Board, informed that an inquiry is underway in collaboration with local agencies, including the collection of samples for detailed examination.
In total, 21 dead wild boars have been identified, primarily around the Khe Choang station in Chau Khe Commune and the Khe Thoi, Tam Dinh, and Tam Hop stations in Tam Quang Commune.
The remains were located near water sources, showing no evidence of poaching or human involvement.
This incident marks the first recorded large-scale death event among the park’s wild boar population, prompting concerns that a contagious disease may be emerging among these animals.
To safeguard against possible disease transmission to other wildlife and livestock in nearby areas, Tuan emphasized that they have alerted authorities and are executing disease control measures.
