Over the weekend, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky had a memorable experience in the UAE when she met her idol, actress Taraji P. Henson. The encounter was emotional for the 22-year-old athlete.
While she also met actor Terry Crews, it was her meeting with Henson that truly stole the show. This meetup was a dream come true for Reese, who received a heartfelt message from the esteemed actress, known for her role in 2010’s The Karate Kid.
“I’m incredibly proud of you. Keep up the amazing work,” stated Henson to Reese. “You are influential off the court as well as on. It was a pleasure meeting you.”
Reese quickly shared this cherished moment on her Instagram Story, expressing her excitement about the actress, who has been nominated for Academy Awards and won three Primetime Emmys.
“@tarajiphenson DMVS FINEST,” she wrote, indicating her Washington DC roots. “Literally my favorite, omgggg.”
Reese’s Continuous Growth in Basketball
The Unrivaled League provides Reese with another platform to display her abilities as she progresses in her basketball career.
After her impressive time with the LSU Tigers and propelling them to the NCAA March Madness Regional Final, Reese joined the WNBA as the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Sky.
She marked an outstanding rookie season, achieving the WNBA record for the longest streak of double-doubles within a single season at 10.
Now, as part of the Unrivaled League, she is poised to enhance her impressive portfolio, with players anticipated to earn around $250,000 alongside equity stakes in the league.
Reese will play for the Rose BC alongside Chelsea Gray, Brittney Sykes, Kahleah Cooper, Lexie Hull, and Azura Stevens, with games commencing on January 14.
