Final Trial Operations for Metro Line 1 in Ho Chi Minh City
Metro Line 1, which runs from Ben Thanh to Suoi Tien, is set to undergo its last phase of trial operations from December 12 to 21. During this period, the line will conduct around 200 trips each day in preparation for its official opening to the public on December 22.
The Ho Chi Minh City Metro One-Member Limited Liability Company (HURC1) has revealed its schedule for the concluding trial runs of this important urban railway line.
Covering a distance of 19 kilometers, the line features three underground stations—Ben Thanh, Opera House, and Ba Son—along with 11 elevated stations, including Van Thanh, Tan Cang, and Suoi Tien Bus Station, among others.
Initial operations on December 12 will see four trains completing 48 trips with a 20-minute gap between departures.
For outbound services, 24 trains will begin their journey from Suoi Tien Bus Station in Thu Duc City to Ben Thanh Station in District 1, starting at 8:00 AM and finishing at 3:40 PM. Inbound trips will run from Ben Thanh back to Suoi Tien Bus Station, starting at 8:40 AM and wrapping up at 4:20 PM.
Between December 13 and 21, service frequency will increase, operating nine trains daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM, allowing for a total of 200 trips. Trains will run every 8 minutes during peak hours and every 12 minutes during off-peak times.
Additonally, on December 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) transferred assets worth over 13,000 billion VND from the CP3 package to HURC1. This package consists of vital electromechanical equipment, trains, and rail infrastructure.
This transition will enable MAUR and HURC1 to have full oversight and management of the Metro Line 1’s operations and train systems, essential for its upcoming launch.
