The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has criticized Abdullahi Ganduje, the National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for his claim that APC will win the governorship election in Rivers State in 2027.

At the recent inauguration of the Tony Okocha-led APC state executive in Port Harcourt, Ganduje emphasized that capturing the government house in Rivers is a key goal for the APC in 2027.

In retaliation, Edwin Woko dismissed Ganduje’s assertions, asserting that there is “no vacancy” in Rivers State for 2027.

He emphasized that despite the challenges within the PDP, Governor Fubara will be a strong candidate in the elections.

Woko stated:

“Rivers State citizens will do everything possible to ensure Governor Siminalayi Fubara secures his second term.”

He added that the people of Rivers have consistently rejected the APC and will continue to oppose its adversarial policies.

“Governor Fubara will still pursue the 2027 election under the PDP, despite the internal strife caused by some individuals within our ranks, whom we believe will soon be a thing of the past.”

“The disruption of democracy witnessed in the last gubernatorial election in Edo cannot be mirrored in Rivers State, as the election process must involve actual voting rather than attempts to undermine legitimate votes through questionable means, including the interference of unnamed security personnel or other manipulation tactics that Ganduje’s APC might attempt.”
