President Tinubu Offers Tips to Cut Electricity Costs

President Bola Tinubu has shared advice on how Nigerians can lower their electricity expenses.

He has encouraged citizens to adopt simple habits, such as turning off lights when not in use.

This suggestion was made during a media event he held with reporters in Lagos State.

In his own words, Tinubu stated: “It’s important to learn how to manage our energy use. By switching off lights, we can take control of our electricity bills.”

Furthermore, the president expressed his stance against price controls, stating he does not support that approach.

“I don’t endorse price control; instead, we will focus on improving supply in the market,” he added.

Since taking office, President Tinubu’s administration has increased electricity tariffs and removed fuel subsidies.

On April 3, 2024, the country’s electricity regulator announced higher tariffs for customers categorized under Band A, raising costs from N66 to N225 per kilowatt hour.

This decision was met with strong backlash due to the additional financial burden it placed on Nigerians.
