On December 20, 2024, Nura Yakubu, a suspected member of Boko Haram, was detained by the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Garba Chede, Bali Local Government Area.
Yakubu was captured during an operation targeting individuals involved in the kidnapping of a local district leader.
According to Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Spokesperson for the Brigade, Yakubu was a food vendor who played a role in assisting Boko Haram members engaged in terrorist activities within Taraba State.
Furthermore, investigations revealed Yakubu’s connection to other kidnapping incidents in the region, including the abduction of a businessman named Mr. Arinze and the son of Alhaji Ibrahim in Garbatau.
Additionally, on December 18, 2024, in Jalingo, Musa Suito was arrested for his alleged role in the kidnapping of a district head on November 27. Suito, affiliated with a local vigilante group, is believed to have used his position to provide intelligence to kidnappers.
Authorities recovered a dane gun and two cartridges from Suito during his apprehension.
Brigade Commander Kingsley Uwa reaffirmed the army’s dedication to safeguarding the people and property in Taraba State.
He encouraged the public to remain alert and work closely with security forces by sharing timely and reliable information to help thwart criminal activities.
