An explosion tragically struck an Islamiyyah school in the Kuchibiyu Community of the Bwari Area Council, located approximately 42 kilometers from central Abuja, resulting in the death of one student.
The unfortunate event took place around noon on Monday and left four additional students injured.
According to a source who spoke to Premium Times, emergency responders, including a police bomb disposal unit, quickly arrived at the scene, assisting the injured students who were transported to the hospital.
The source noted, “The deceased student, whose identity remains unknown, was in possession of what is believed to be an improvised explosive device (IED) that detonated, injuring other students and creating chaos in the area.
“The affected students were new to the school, having just started classes on January 3, 2025.”
As of this report, neither school officials nor the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police, Josephine Adeh, have commented on the incident.
